From its birth in 1962. Saint Joseph Re- gional has continually progressed through the loyal dedication and the untiring vigi- lance of its friend and advisor. Brother Syl- vere. Brother Sylvere has been instrumen- tal in molding and encouraging many ad- mirable characteristics in the student body. As a friend. he has always been will- ing to lend a helping hand and to offer some advice to the students. Aided by Brother Basil. he has kept the school functioning and has set many people at ease with his ready-wit. Brother Basil, C.F.X.. has also been ready to help with difficulties no matter where they occured. Brother Basil has helped to institute and co-ordinate the school's flexible system of electives. It was through Brother Basil, also. that the Knew computer-less report card was introduced at S..l.R. In addition, his was the lengthy and trying task of preparing. checking, and revising the hundreds of charts, tabula- tions, and evaluations necessary to meet the high standards set by the Middle States Ev- aluating Committee. Mr. Richard Connolly. in his first year as Assistant Principal. has also had an impor- tant role in introducing new policies and methods. Some of his innovations, such as the hard-plastic embossed identification cards which serve many purposes, have become so much a part of life at S.J.R. that they are now taken for granted. His effect on the student body has been far-reaching: not even the most absent-minded or naive freshman has any doubt about the location of Mr. Connolly's office. Y. '59
