The many happy hours we spend studying, attending classes, and student meetings, enjoying recreational activities, and just plain having fun with fellow stu- dents makes this building and this room our home, It is here we live, learn, and mature while we are studying nursing.

SAINT JOSEPH’S HOSPITAL FT. WAYNE St. Joseph's Hospital opened its doors in 1869 as the city's first hospital. Instrumental in bringing this about was the Right Reverend John Henry Luers, Bishop of the Diocese, who purchased a hotel known as Rockhill House. It was his influence, too, which brought from Germany the Sisters to operate it, the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ; a Community devoted to the care of the sick and poor, and the education of youth, The hospital's evolution is marked by a progressive building program which got underway as early as 1878. Every few years... 1881, 1884, 1890, 1899, 1912, 1928, and 1962. . . additions went up, each one Biogel and more elaberure! sagt cedey the physical plant occupies a full city block. St. Joseph's is a 300-bed general hospital. It has facilities for clinical experience in surgical, medical, pediatric and obstetric nursing care.

PRAYER FOR A NURSE Oh, my God: I am about to begin the day's work. Teach me to receive the sick in Thy name. Give to my efforts success, sweet Jesus, for the glory of Thy Holy Name. It is Thy work: Without Thee I cannot succeed. Grant that the sick Thou hast placed in my care may be abundantly blessed, Rev. Widman, C.PP.S., Hospital Chaplain and not one of them be lost because ; i of anything that is lacking in me. Help Thou me to overcome every temporal weakness and strengthen in me whatever may enable me to bring the sunshine of joy to the lives that are gathered round me day by day. Make me beautiful within for the sake of Thy sick ones and those lives which will be influenced by them. Amen.
