2155 M + RELIGICN Growth towards Christian Maturity is possible only for those who have been formed in a sound knowledge of and a profound appreciation for the truths of Faith. Thus, the heart of St. .loseph's curriculum is the four-year study of religion. The well-planned Quest for Happiness series provides the basis for the program. This year the depart- ment began a series of bulletins that provided information and interesting explanations of religious topics that ranged from views of the current liturgi- cal season to the prayer life of the Christian student. An individual record of each student's curricular and extracurricular achievements is kept. Our growth towards Christian maturity is aided considerably by our Guidance Department. The department, under the direction of Fr. Eldon Reichert, S.M., has been organized to assist each Viking in his spiritual, educational, and vocational development. Through its thor- ough testing program which includes seven educational and vocational tests, two scholarship tests and state examinations in key subjects, the department is able to help each student make a wise selection of courses for his high school career as well as guide each in his choice of educa- tional training after graduation. Educational and non-educational prob- lems are handled by Fr. Reichert and four divisional counselors: Bro. Carroll Wentker, S.M. fSeniorl, Bro. Philip Eichner, S.M. Uuniorl, Bro.
