Dear Graduates of 1960: The history of your senior year has also been the history of the close of the first decade of St. Joseph High School. As a class, you have made excellent use of the exceptional opportunities offered to you at this school-opportunities for physical, intel- lectual, social and spiritual growth. Each one of you, however, must decide for him- self whether he now can characterize his four years here as successful. In coming to a decision, let these three questions guide you: fAre you convinced that you, personally, have a God-given mission in life, a mission which you alone can fulfill? 4H ave you developed a solid, manly, and apos- tolic devotion to the Blessed Virgin? i'Have you reached a point in your mental de- velopment where you are serious about your continued intellectual progress? If you can answer these questions in the affirma- tive, you may sincerely believe that your high school days have been successful. God bless you, and Mary keep you always, and may you ever re- main 'gloyal and true to your Viking Code. In ,l.M..l., Principal Atlus, ELM... Last September Brother Lawrence Eveslage as- sumed the challenging and often delicate task of meeting out justice and mercy to a student body of over 1550 boys. As Assistant Principal, Brother Larry each week reads scores of explanations for absences, hears dramatic and often original reasons for tardiness and judges the validity of the accused's version for demerit slips. To be firm, fair and fatherly to so many boys is no small task hut one to which Brother Eveslage very ably brings his 6'4 stature and 16 years of experience at a simi- lar post in Cincinnati, Ohio. Besides his position as Assistant Principal, Brother Larry also teaches a lucid course in trigonometry and even finds time to tune in far-flung short wave stations and wield a hetter than average tennis racket. Assistant Principal BRUTHER LAWRENCE J. EVESLAGE, S.M., MS. in Ed. Cheer up, Tim, I was small too when I was in high school
