Most HTE FEE ED Members of the senior Civics class, Norma Austin, Bill Blakely, Margaret Berg, and Leona de Peal, are putting up campaign posters for the candidates running for election to the Student Coun- nil. Candidates are nominated by a caucus of seniors. At the end of a short campaigning period vot- ing machines are brought in for the student body to use in choosing the candidate of their choice. Challenging Among Juniors And Seniors The new electric I.B.M. typewriters are Wonderful for Arlene Martinez, Mary Louise Espinoza, Rose Lee Pfannenstiel, Marcella Gonzales, and Mary Ann Wally, but Joseph Maestas does not seem too happy with his old manual typewriter. LJ 431 The McAuley Club is active the year round. They visit homes for the aged, and orphanages. Usually they take cookies, candy, cigarettes, and other small necessi- ties. Here are Mary Ellen Gonzales, Christine Lucero, and Carmen Rodriquez delivering Christmas packages to some old folks at Hillcrest Nursing Home. Officer Joseph Hale and student body president Frank Rino Warn two children from St. Elizaheth's grade school to he careful on Halloween night. Other features of the safety program are fire drills, civil defense drills, and the driving program for the sopho- mores, which includes an acuity test and driving lessons. 49
