1 l - md Music-Arr? Cultural Pursuits In October there was a choral program organized for the Catholic high schools in the Denver area. This program was given at St. Francis High School. Those who received Superior ratings Were Frank Rino and Mike Carson. Judy Lynch, Mercy Marquez, La Vonne Padilla, and Janet Reister received Excellent ratings. The trio Geraldine Jacques, Cathy Heit, and ,Judy Lynch brought home Excellent awards for their performance. On December fourteenth St. Joseph H. S. choral classes took part in the Christmas Festival held at Regis College Fieldhouse. Mixed groups from eleven high schools in the Denver Archdiocese presented many Christmas carols in beautiful arrangements before a captive audience. Three of the more popular selections were: GESU BAMBINO by Mullen High School, DRUMMER BOY by Mount Carmel High School, and O HOLY NIGHT by St. Joseph High School. The Most Reverend David M. Maloney, Auxiliary Bishop of Denver, closed the program with Solemn Benediction. A selected group of our choral members in the form of solos, duets, and trios took part in the program at the Catholic Parent-Teacher Conference held at Wymer Auditorium in the Denver Public Library on April 3, 1962. Shirley Lucero, Randolph Wells, Margaret Rodriquez, Ernie Mar- quez, and Douglass Waltrip look over some of the art work pro- duced by the talented students of Sister Joseph Marie's art class. Many of these pieces were en- tered in the Archdiocesan art dis- play in the spring. They were also exhibited at the April Parent- Teacher Association meeting. 45

Most HTE FEE ED Members of the senior Civics class, Norma Austin, Bill Blakely, Margaret Berg, and Leona de Peal, are putting up campaign posters for the candidates running for election to the Student Coun- nil. Candidates are nominated by a caucus of seniors. At the end of a short campaigning period vot- ing machines are brought in for the student body to use in choosing the candidate of their choice. Challenging Among Juniors And Seniors The new electric I.B.M. typewriters are Wonderful for Arlene Martinez, Mary Louise Espinoza, Rose Lee Pfannenstiel, Marcella Gonzales, and Mary Ann Wally, but Joseph Maestas does not seem too happy with his old manual typewriter. These new machines are Sister Mary Mercy's pride and joy. 1 l l 47
