V7 5 8. wr an Forty-three SJHers participated in Forensic League activities during the 1957-1958 school year. The National Catholic Forensic League is an organization of schools throughout the United States which promotes speech activities in order to develop a more articulate laity. It sponsors competition in debate, extemporaneous speaking, humorous declama tion, dramatic declamation, prepared oratory, original oratory and student congress. The League was organized in the Erie diocese in December 1956. The diocese was divided on a geographic basis into three districts. Saint Joseph High is in the second district. During the first year of operation, nineteen SJI-lers have achieved the twenty-five points requisite for membership. 63
