OUR THEME PRO ARIS et FOCIS For the past twelve years the Class of 1954 have 1n accordance w1th the school motto centered the1r thought and d1rected thexr efforts toward Altars and Homes And now 1n remuuscence theu' gaze travels beyond the surface f1rst of all to the Altar of God the God Who glves Joy to thexr youth There before the altar of the Most H1gh m the Par1sh Church they l1ve once agam the never to be forgotten D1alog and Gregorlan Masses B1shop McManaman s messages Retreat conferences Bene d1ct1on Glanclng about we see fellow students searchlng each m h1s own manner after the r1chness wh1ch IS found only IH sanct1fy1ng the1r l1ves Sanct1fy1ng the1r lxves not Just to keep and guard them sel.f1shly but to share them wlth all whom they assoclate The Home Focxs Forever emplanted 1n the hearts of each graduate are the unforgettable memor1es of a comfortable home as 1n v1t1ng and welcome today as lt was after the f1rst day of school 1n the flrst grade A glance mto the hvmg room f1nds sm1l1ng classmates tablecloth 1S pushed hast11y aslde to make room for the well worn books and the fam1l1ar scene recalls to the m1nd of the graduate the hours of study accompan1ed by the Joy of ach1evement or at t1mes the tears of d1scouragement The kltchen holds fond memor1es of hungry frxends danc1ng to the muslc of tapp1ng pop corn and each room mlrrors the sacr1f1ce of an unsung hero and hero1ne Mother and Dad who shared each fallure as well as each accomphshment ever near and always generous w1th thelr help not expect1ng anythmg m return but sat1sf1ed to see their ch11d grow 1n knowledge and the love of God The graduate real1zes also that the only way of showmg his gratltude IS to pattern h1s own Home after the1r example of sacrl f1ce 'Ihus we have our efforts been d1rected For ALTARS and HOMES As years go by we w1l1 often recall the many efforts on our behalf of B1shop McManaman h1s asslstant Pr1ests the S1sters and our Parents W1thout the care and protect1on they have g1ven there would be no pages m our Book of Memor1es.
