The school year is like a stage production. As the curtain rises in August, the players, the stage crew, the directors and the audience anticipate a gala performance. Everyone at St. Joe ' s, from principal to student to parent, perform in some way throughout the year. We pay tribute to this spirit of theatrics by using a thespian theme to tie our yearbooli together. The marquees on the division pages are the showbills for our year ' s performance. The theme for this year, ' ' It ' s Showtime! applies to us all because no matter what obstacles befall us, we always manage to say, ' The show must goon and somehow, it always does. As we take our final bows in May, we hope that 1986-87 has been our greatest production yet.

In the past 10 years, he has served St. Joseph above and beyond what is expected of a teacher. Hot only has he been an inspirational history teacher, but he teaches choir which has developed into a favorite elective at St. Joe. Mis dedication to St. Jo- seph is exemplified through his involvement in the Fine Arts Department, tie has directed count- less plays, including Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Jesus Christ Superstar, Grease, A Fun- ny Thing Happened on The Way to the Forum, and Victory or Death which he wrote, produced, and directed. Me also encourages student partici- pation in Living Mistory, in which he is actively in- volved. In addition to this, he has taken part in several movies for television including The Jane Long Story, Texas and Tennessee: A Musical Af- fair, north and South, Ft. I and II, and Gone to Texas. We, the staff, feel that recognition for his ac- complishments is long overdue. For these rea- sons and many more, we gratefully dedicate the 1986-87 Excelsior to Mr. Michael T. Boyd.
