He drove the Bucs through the V.P.L. schedule and ended up in fourth place in the Valley Standings. A fine showing for a fine coach. lncidently, Don played on our great basketball team of '45 that went to the State finals in the Class B. Tourney. Don Pietrzak They Lecxd The Buccaneers. X Ioe Bourcier, a former backfield star at SS. Peter and Paul and a semi-pro football player, returned to St. Iosephs for his second year as head coach and found himself handicapped with lack of experi- enced players and reserves. Never betore in the history oi St. loseph did the Bucs encounter a rnore dis- astrous season than the i949 one. The spark that was necessary to get theni rolling in every garne was lacking. ln all probability the losses were due to the lack oi experience of the substitutes. All most all the games were deten- sive.
