We re So Proud The graduating classes of SIH enioy the privilege ot displaying the distinc- tive seal of St. Ioseph High School on their commencement announcements. Beautifully engraved. it adds a note of dignity and beauty to the occasion. Embossed in red and silver, the seal gives prominence to the school colors. The shield within the outer circle is borrowed from the coat of arms of the Sisters of Notre Dame who have been teaching in St. Ioseph's, Fremont, for a period of 77 years. While every detail of the shield is deeply symbolic of the spirit and traditions ot the Sisters, its maior points present many significant aspects to the students. The flaming lamp ol early Christian Rome is the symbol ot living faith: the lion, king of beasts. is the emblem oi courage and strength: the eagle, monarch of birds, suggests spiritual vision: the lily honors Mary Immaculate, patroness of the United States, and the tossing waves and tive-pointed stars are also emblematic ot Mary. - 2 ..
