S+. .Ioe's Makes It To State: Almost This was a season of changes with a touch of controversy With only a handful of letter winners returning the team coached by Dan Chubrilo beat their arch rivals St Catherine s twice Lead ing scorer Chuck Soule and leading rebounder Rich Czernecki helped the Lancers into the regional tournament In the first game they beat St Catherine s 60 57 The Lancers next played Thomas More vfho beat them 54 35 Yet because of an ineligible player Thomas More for- feited sending St. Joe s to the state tournament. Shortly before the game Thomas More was declared eligible to play due to legal technicali- ties. Thus, the season ended on a strange note.
