St. Joseph School Conway, Arkansas 1980-1981 Volume 18 2 Seventh Grade Faculty Sports Clubs Activities Senior Activities Advertisements 27 30 31-32 33-44 45-54 55-73 74-88 Dedication The usually difficult task of selecting a teacher to be honored by the Seniors was quite easy for us this year. This special teacher has the determina- tion, dedication, and patience that is needed not only by a teacher; but also by a Sr. Class sponsor. After graduating from Mountain Home High School, she attended the University of Central Arkansas. With an English major and Math mi- nor, she received her Bachelor Degree in Science and English. She began her teaching career with Math at Poplar Street Junior High School. Two years later she found herself not only teaching at St. Joe, but also sponsoring our seventh grade class. She helped us begin our High School years and now she has helped us end them. We can’t thank you enough for all the time and effort you have given us this year. It is for these reasons that we have dedicated our 1981 yearbook to you, Mrs. Graham. The Senior Class of ’81 4 Seniors The Senior Class had a very successful and fun last year at St. Joe. The Seniors as individuals and as a class accomplished many things in many ways. They worked together to make this special year one of their best years. Many memories of High School will remain with each person, but something that will remain with the Sen- iors of “81” is the great friendship and love shared by the whole class to top all other memories. Their weekly re- hearsals enabled them to attain good ratings from each audi- ence. They performed at the Elementary School and the AR Children’s Colony. Mr. Pool did an excellent job with the group making them a superior group. pictured: S. Hambuchen. 49 Yearbook This year’s staff, consisted of all new members with the exception of three. Due to this inexperi- ence, it was a tough, confusing year for all. Howev- er, this did not discourage the staff. They worked for many long hours to make this year’s annual unique and enjoyable. Deep appreciation to Mrs. Lane the sponsor, for her time and patience which helped the staff get this annual published. 50 Left to right: B. Webb; J. Worm; M. Mayor; Editor. A. Moix; J. Following the royalty, the senior teams split a victory to end the evening. The annual Homecoming dance was held on November 15, in the High School Cafeteria. May 8, the Seniors, looking forward to an exciting Senior trip, left the gym parking lot destined for Arlington, Texas. After 6 long hours on the bus, the class was ready to relax at the luxurious AmFac Hotel before their evening at Six Flags. However, due to rain and thunder- storms the Seniors night at Six Flags was canceled. Instead, the class watched cable television and road the trams to and from the airport. The group left the next morning at 11:30. The trip itself was fun and will long be remembered by all. Dorothy Miller, Verena Moix, Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Kords- meier, and Mr. and Mrs. Graham accompanied the Seniors on the trip. 6 M Sr. Play The Seniors began to work on the traditional Senior Play in late March. After the characters were appointed, long hours of practice began to fill the Senior’s nights. Different class members worked on the set, lighting, publicity, and cos- tumes. This project, which involved the entire class, was proven to be a success by the perceptive response of their audiences and the help and guid- ance of Mrs. Graham. “Rest Assured” brought smiles and laughter to all who attended. The play was presented May 2 and 3. Debbie Hoelzeman and David Miller were chosen as Best Actress and Actor.
