Dedication 4 Faculty 6 Classes 10 Clubs 37 Personalities 37 Sports 51 Activities 63 Graduation 73 Advertisements 76 The Senior Class of 1978 with honor dedicates this yearbook to a teacher and a friend. She has not only helped our class this year, but in years past. For this reason we proudly dedicate this year's book to Sister Rita Deschenes. Of her twenty years teaching experience, four has been spent with us. During that time she has taught a series of science and religion courses. However, she still finds time to sponsor the C. C. D. Program, the Drama Club, the Liturgical Committee, and co-spon- sors the Senior Class, and co-directs the Senior play. Sister Rita is the oldest of fourteen children. She re- ceived a B.A. in Education from Anhurst College and is presently working on her M.A. in Religious Educa- tion at Providence College. Sister Rita also initiated a program of visiting the elderly in their homes. Not only is this a valuable ex- perience for the elderly themselves, but a great bene- fit for us as well. Through this we learned patience, generosity, and understanding. Sister Rita you have given us a model of Christian- ity. Your guidance has prepared us for our adult life. For this, we bestow upon you what we consider a great honor, the dedication of OUR yearbook. 4 CLASSES Father Joseph Be hr-is superintendent of our school. Father Julian Wroble- is assistant pastor. It was truely 1 'great'' in 1977-78. The Senior Bull- dogs moving up a notch to Class A competition started out slowly. But showing a lot of character and with good senior leadership the team got it together. After a good showing in the University of Central Arkansas Tournament the Bulldogs topped Guy-Perkins (Class B Runner-Up) in the finals of the Faulkner County Tour- nament to repeat as County Champs. A good showing in the District Tournament falling to Judsonia 74-71 in the finals earned the Bulldogs their second straight trip to the State Tournament only this time Class A. Play- ing at Henderson State University the Bulldogs surprised everyone by winning their first and second round games by 16 points over Wheatley and Mountain Pine. Before approximately 3,500 fans and one of the biggest and most enthusiastic St. Joseph following the Bulldogs fell 70 to 63 to Weiner in the Semi-Finals. The Bulldogs returned with The State Class A Sportsmanship Award and All-State honors for 6'3 Sr. Malcolm Seiter (the first St. Joseph Sr. All-Stater). Seiter, along with seniors Alan Meyer and Pat Bruich were selected to the All District team. This team certainly contributed to the tradition of hustle and winning in the St. Joseph Basketball program. They have earned their place at the top of all time accomplishment. The Juniors put a lot of hard work into the big - gest dance of the year and it was en- joyed by many. 66 67 Valentine’s Dance The polar bear was cuter than that tree! Some funny farm applicants from Silver Dollar City. Some of the major places we visited this year were: Overton Park and Zoo in Memphis, Tenn., Silver Dollar City, Mo., and our last was tile biggest, we char- tered a bus and went to Senior Night in Worlds of Fun, Kansas, Mo. Members of the 1977-78 Senior Play are: Lori Bausom; Pat Bruich; Christy Camottj Alice Halter; Clay Hart; Alan Meyer; Renate Rademacher; Brenda Rappold; John Schierlang; Malcolm Seiter; David Stone; Steve Thessing; Diane Velte; Terry Widen; and Gerard Zimmerebner. P 1 'Finders Creepers'' is a mystery comedy by Donald Payton. The play opens with two young boys landing themselves in a mortuary which one of their uncles owns. During the play a dead body orders scrambled eggs and jitterbugs with Granny who also lives there, Granny talks about jumping out of the upstairs window, a doctor tries to poison the boys and almost shoots most of the people in the house, the mortician is blamed and imprisoned, the doctor is caught, and two elope- ments take place all in one weekend! It was a fun play to produce and much laughter the reward! 70 74 HEY, LORD DO YOU HEAR ME LORD? HEY, LORD, IT'S ME. NOT FOR MUCH DO I PRAY, OH LO SHOW ME THE WAY, O MY LORD, I WOULD BE FREE.
