These words spoken at Fatima prompt the students of St. Joseph to further Our Lady ' s Crusade for Peace through daily recitation of the rosary and devotion of the Five First Saturdays. The students have beeninstrumental in promoting the Family Rosary. T. JENSON SON Emporia, Kansas On the first of May each year the students of St. Joseph School nnanifest their devotion and love for Our Lady with a formal procession. Beautiful Marian hymns are sung by students as senior girls carry the statue of the Qu-een of May. In conclusion, Christ Himself in sacramental benedic- tion gives His blessing to the entire parish. Attired informals, four senior girls Charlene Lenninger, Pat Matheis, Dorothy Kuhlmann, and Greta Murphy carry the statue of Our Lady in solemn procession. During the singing of Bring Flowers of the Fairest, Shirleen Schmidt, attired in a white lace formal and fingertip veil, places a garland of flowers on the statue of the Blesses Virgin. ' ar cJLcLclu6 The outstanding student organization for spiritual ac- tivity is the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin, under the direc- tion of the Central office at St. Mary ' s Kansas. The Kansas State Sodality Union makes plans for the year. Sodality ac- tivities whi ch made this year successful are clothes drive, collection of stamps for the missions, King and Queen Ball, Parents ' Night, Spiritual Bouquet for the Holy Father, and May Crowning. The Knights of the Altar elected Dale Steffes as President. He is car- rying the missal to the gospel side of the altar. Maurice Gerleman carries the chalice veil after the ablution. Emporia Kansas Early in September the annual staff assembled for its first meeting to begin ' THE BUILDER. The girls have a genuine love for singing and thus we understand why the Glee Club is so popular. With a jest and a smile the Boys ' Glee Club gaily trip to their Thursday session where they prove that they can also pro- duce some pleasing harmony. Accompanied by Mary Burke Norton, LeonSchmidt gives a spirited rendition of Dinah . The blues certainly stay away when Shirleen Schmidt and Carlene Diebolt teamupfora duet on the sax and clarinet. Dorothy Kuhlmann smiles confidently at her audience as she finishes The Tennessee Waltz. Joann Wendling ' s leisure tinne is filled by practicing classical pieces on the piajio. Besides the piano, she also plays the clarinet. We students feel that the training re- ceived under the able supervision of Mary Burke Norton gives us an appreciation of good music which we vdll carry over into our future lives. Joseph B team emerged with an 8-6 record. In the Lyon County Tournament they battled their way to victory through three games, winning the title of Champions.
