It has its own excitement, tempting dangers and ravishing beauty. Every turn in the path gives something new to behold. Too bad one does not realize what he has that is of value. When a man becomes old and his step is slow, each year of his life passes with an expressway speed. lt can end at any moment as it quickly winds its way through the routine, hum-drum like land- scape. Too bad one does not have what he realizes is of value. If only a man can have and can realize what he has! lf only a man can have the vigor and enthusi- asm with the prudence and iudgment! ls all this some impossible dream? Cannot one's whole life con- tain a never-dying spirit that makes all reality a true reality possessing a certain newness whenever it is experienced? Does the acquiring of wisdom require a shortness of sight - a deafness of hearing - a slowness of breath? Must living become impossible as knowledge becomes a drudgery? My friend, life is such a sparkling beauty and knowledge is such an unfathomable vastness that they are meant to be together like the glistening waves on the never-ending sea. lt is we only who sometime separate them. This book, however, is a sign that we need never separate them. For as in the past year, ioys and sorrows, interests and difficulties weave together in making the man that is you. The fabric is as fine as we allow it to be. The craftsman have been administrators and teachers and laborers and YOU. For all things have been possible - are possible - this past year and this year and the next year and the next year and even the next year because of you. Because of you, your life does have what you real- ize is of value. lt is no dream or impossibility only because you will not allow it to be a dream or impossibility. For your life is not something dead or stagnant upon which someone builds. Rather, it is vibrant and grows from within - from the you. lt is not a superstructure for all people to see and to behold but it is a profoundness for all people to share. You have done well so far but as far as you have gone - the distance you have traveled - must be an encouragement that you can still go farther in experiencing a life that is as beautiful and pro- found as the uniqueness of You. A 14-12 victory over the Crusaders of Holy Cross capped a season which also saw victories over Marist, St. Patrick's Notre Dame, and Pravisa East. Much of the credit of their fine record must go to the unheralded play of the interior line. Co-captain and quarterback, Jim Patos, provided fine ball-handling and good offensive punch. Tom Roth, operating from the tailback position, was the leading ground-gainer and scorer, but excellent blocking by his running mates, Bruce Shirmulis and Tom Maher helped their cause. Although the Freshmen team possessed many tal- ented football players, the key to their winning season lies in their great spirit and tremendous drive by all the members of the squad.
