gfckztafzq 7?5l On that red letter day in 1950 forty girls, wearing their prettiest dresses, nervously entered the Freshman room. Soon becoming acquainted, we faced Big Sister Day together. The three days of formal initiation were abolished but the Seniors and Sophomores gave us an action-filled day, climaxed with FALL FANTASY. With Catherine Ostoja as president we became active in school affairs, presenting The Thing for the Variety Show, and chalking up the baseball pennant. Our final act as a group was the Senior-Frosh picnic. Knowing that the first year is the hardest, we looked forward to summer with pride in our class and thanks to Sister Mary Raymond for her guidance during the year. 1752 At the end of summer we returned to St. Joseph's as confident Sophomores, under the direction of Sister Mary Cecilia. We chose Carolyn Bentley for president and had fun at the Sophomore party on October 18th, then set about making plans for the Hop, MOONLIGHT AND ROSES, When all the paper flowers were put away, we turned our attention to sports. The team worked hard and claimed the basket- ball pennant. In the spring, Isabel Espinoza and Lupe Vasquez were winners of the ping-pong champion- ships. Ending the year with the annual picnic we made plans for vacation and three months of summer fun. 7255 Ready to start a promising new year, we came back in September to take our places as upper class- men and charges of Sister Mary Mercy. This is the year we became the champs of class sports. We won the volleyball and basketball pennants, losing the baseball crown by one point. We were little ladies, however, at our Junior Prom, LUNA AZUL, set in a Spanish atmosphere. With president Norma Otis leading the way we presented a class social on February 12th, and our picnic on June lst. Natalie Ponce and Sandra Ross were finalists in the contest for press club queen. With the closing of elections on June 8th, we saw this vacation in a different light since it would be our last one as high school girls. 7954 We were just as excited this year as we had been three years ago, for now we were the privileged Seniors. With Sister Mary Celestine as advisor, we presented LITTLE GIRL in honor of the Freshmen. Our teams again won the volleyball and basketball pennants and also the baseball pennant. There had been a whirl of picnics, ski trips, dances and skip days, but AN AMERICAN IN PARIS and MUSICAL MEMORIES will stand out. We attended the Senior Social on October 18th, and the Marian Congress on December 8th. Five of our girls were chosen Teen of the Week by the Sacramento Union - Norma Otis, Cathy Ostoja, Patsy Greene, Carolyn Bentley, and Irene Ferreira. Even though we now bid farewell to SJ. A, , happy memories from these four years will always remain with us. We wish to express our gratitude to our teachers for their patience and guidance, and especially to our principal, Sister Mary Celestine. We only hope that we will prove worthy of their trust in us.
