DEAR DIARY 193 9-40 DEAR DIARY 1 940-4 1 DEAR DIARY 1941-42 DEAR DIARY 1942-43 This year there were thirty-one of us who entered this new world together, were all filled with awe and fear as we realized what an important step we were taking. However, we soon found our proper places and hoped to be able to prove our ability and deserve the name of Freshmen. Besides Latin and Algebra, which were new to most of us, we were thrilled by the fact that we were now considered old enough to make our first retreat which was given by Reverend Father Steiner, S.-I. All too quickly our first year Hlled with new knowledge and excitement came to an end. Yes, Diary, we're back again, no longer the youngest class, but now Sophomores. This 'ear we tackled eometr' and found a new thrill in French. We also 5 'S 5 were able to attend the Cherry Ball! For most of us our first formal! What happy memories will remain with us of our retreat given by Reverend Father lVIcLarne ', O.P.l We'll always remember Wake u little irl and g'Flowers, Y . r Pr g 1 I leave thee on the wayf, Yes, all these and many more memories will cling with us as we discover that une has once more co-me and when we return we will be . Y classified as upperclassmen. Juniors! V Oh, Diary, what a grown-up feeling! This year we're taking chemistry and hoping that some day we'll all be Madame Curie's, or, at least, one of us. Our first big project is the distribution of the Christmas Baskets. This act of charity gives us all a new outlook on the true meaning of Christmas. After returning from vacation we helped the Seniors plan our Cherry Ball. VVhat a grand time we all had! Then for three days we became serious and made our annual retreat Con- ducted by Reverend Father Monroe, O.P. and Reverend Father Sheehan, O.P. VVhen it was over we felt as though we had received twice as much grace. At the end of May and the first days of June we planned the Sodality Tea for the Seniors, practiced Commencement exercises, and last but not least gave our first Junior- Senior Prom. Although we hated to see the seniors leave, we felt proud that at last we were able to take their place, the place of honor, as Seniors! , VVell, diary, we're writing on the last page. At last we're Seniors, and what an experience it is to have girls looking up to us. This year has gone so fast. We've been in our last Christmas Play, gone to our last Cherry Ball, given our Class Play, which was a big thrill, assisted at our last retreat conducted by Reverend Father Mailning, O.P. Now, enriched with spiritual and intellectual knowledge, we re- luctantly see that June has come and with it our Commencement. Yes, diary, we've had our arguments and corrections, our work and fun, and how we hope we've accomplished our duty. As we leave, a little wiser, a little older, we hope that no matter what happens, we'll all stay together, sharing with one another our future joys and sorrows, as well as the memories of the four happiest years of our life.
