The Robin I saw a robin one fine day Perching on a tree so gay Singing a song as if to say I wish you all a happy day. The robin in its nest so high, With eggs of blue to match the sky, Its nest is lined with twigs and grass, His flight from South means Spring at last. Sally Rudolph, '55 Spring Roses and tulips lift up their heads Over the dew of the garden beds, While the majestic song of the Golden Plover Is telling the world that Winter is over. The bushes awaken and start to assemble, But the wind through the trees makes everything tremble, While a chorus of robins and bluebirds sing Bringing glad assurance that this is Spring. Joanna Hall, '55 The Roads In Our Town Look Out! Ouch! What on ea1'th is happening? I feel like I am on the Atlantic Ocean in a sea storm. Oh my poor stomach. Someone hurry and catch my head it feels like it is going to fly off. What is that thing staring me in the eye? Whew! For a moment I thought it was someone, but it was just one of the fish we caught in the pond. COh dear there goes the pickle juice all over me from the picnic lunch.J In case anyone is wondering by this time what is happening, it's just this: my sister Anne has just learned to drive, and is driving me home from the school picnic.
