The Cheerleaders for 1979-80 are, Diana Solis-head cheerleader, Rosie del Castillo-Co-Head, Ruth Gloor-Mas- cot, Lisa Bauer, Connie Gavito, Mi- chelle Maldonado, Mary McNair, Deb- bie Putegnat, Ana Villarreal, and Me- lissa Vitels. They started off not lsnow- ing each other's feelings or what was going to happen. During the summer the squad came to school everyday for four long hard hours. It tools a lot of time, dedication and effort to get where this year's Varsity squad has gotten. Our SJA Cheerleaders tools first place in the Amigoland Mall competi- tion during August, they even did better at summer camp. Competing with five out of one hundred other squads from different parts of Texas, the cheerleaders were nominated for the award of Excellence as well as bringing home five superior ribbons, one excellent spirit sticls which gave the the award of a superstar squad. The squad has worked very hard all year to reach their goal of pro- moting school spirit, wherher at foot- ball games, basketball games, or any sport you find St. Joe participating in. We always find our Cheerleaders at the front lines of a crowd just stirring the spirit! Bring Cn The Cheerleaders!
