CLASS PROP!-IECY The n1ght was st1ll and cool and havlng f1n1shed my homework, I dec1ded to V1S1t myfrlend Professor Albert Freon Professor Freon s summerlab was a few blocks from my house The professor had 1nv1ted me many t1mes tov1s1t lt but because I had much study1ng to do I had never been able to accept h1s 1nv1tat1ons Now I found nothlng to 1nterfere hence I started out for the lab In the br1ghtmoonl1ght I could see the professor's cottage Just ahead the front part was completely dark soI dec1ded to go to hxs experlmental lab around the back As Iwas gomg up the steps I heard the old man shout, Eureka It works I became cur1ous and I cautlously knocked at the door It took the professor a long t1me to answer my call and th1s aroused my cur1os1ty even more F1nally the old man opened the door, and from the express1on on h1s face I could tell that he was very exc1ted The professor was a short man of about f1fty f1VC who had a small whlte beard mak1ng h1m look ludlcrous After we exchanged greet1ngs, he began to tell me about h1s new 1nvent1on When he told me what he had 1nvented I nearly fell over It was too fantas1.1c'to belleve that the professor had 1nvented a t1me mach1ne In fact I d1dn't qu1te belleve the professor at f1rst butwhen he showed the t1memach1ne to me, every ounce of susp1c1on left me He began expla1n1ng the sc1ent1f1c pr1nc1ples of the mach1ne and told me that the t1me machlne would not only take one 1nto the future, but once there one could travel 1n a few seconds to any place 1n the world I stood there flabbergasted l1sten1ng to h1m and before I knew lt h had talked me 1nto trylng lt out Be1ng a very cur1ous person, I consented on the cond1t1on that I would return before m1dn1ght The professor, belng eager to try the mach1ne out, d1d not hesltate to agree Before I knew It he had me s1tt1ng 1n a cha1r w1th all k1nds of w1res attached to lt It made me feel l1ke a conv1ct on the electrlc chalr The professor told me that the d1a1S were set for me to return at eleven th1rty He asked 1f I was ready and when I gave h1m the slgnal he threw the f1rst sw1tch After the motor reached full power, I could feel the whole lab shak1ng I st1ll had not gone 1nto the future, sol turned to see what the professor was do1ng He appeared to be Waltlng for the motor to warm up before throwlng the f1nal sw1tch Then the moment came, I saw the professor throw the sw1tch and I 1mmed1ately blacked out All I could see was darkness my head was sp1nn1ng 1na c1rcle, and was golng faster and faster unt1l fmally lt stopped My head started to clear up, and from the looks of th1ngs I was 1n the FUTURE Then I remembered what the professor had sa1d ' You can travel 1n a. few seconds to any place 1n the world I started concentrat1ng on my old home- town Brownsv1lle, Texas and suddenly I was there Evldently people could not see me because they walked rlght by me w1thout even not1c1ng me Every body seemed to be go1ng 1n the same d1rect1on so I dec1ded to follow and see what was golng on Before I real1zed 1t, I was watch1ng afootball game There were a few seconds of play1ng t1me left Then I heard the f1nal gun and the publ1c address system commenced Wlth the followmg scores St Joseph's 6 Temple 2 Immed1ately the St Josephfans started cheer1ng and shoutmg, and the academy football team was carrylng two persons around the fleld It was 28 I . . .
