The various f Q apparitions of our Blessed Lady at La Salette, X Lourdes, Fatima, and Lipa give evidence that V1 Mary is playing an important part in shaping the Fl destmies of these turbulent times. In fact, she begs us to consecrate ourselves to her Immaculate , , 1 Heart: she almost forces us to have devotion to X , - L-, her, You MUST say the Rosary, she said at f K - I Fatima. li- - M, lg : 2. Q A I I -N x I Q ,gl X Rai The students at Saint Joseph Academy have ' J L QP X always hown that they were true children of Mary. I i, J A J They all carried away a devotion to Her that was I p ' iff' p as loftyxaghe skies and as lasting as time. 1 in A In ourhur years at Saint Joseph's, we, too, X Q ' I, in i have learned the art of going to Jesus throug l X- - T3 Mary. We have appealed to Mary's Immaculate X 4 X K l Heart in our joys and sorrows, in our trials and X X , Al needs, in our work and play. We have experienced X , L Y, i how much true happiness can be ours, as the Ave i H l,' i ' f Marias lall from our lips while the beads roll thru XXX l ' 'J f our fingers. ,I i If I Now that we are leaving this harbor, WCXXXXX xi J ly J earnestly desire to continue experiencing this hap- X lip X Q, piness that comes through loyalty to Mary. With Xe X Elf! ' Q this thought in mind, we, the Seniors of 1951, lj! lg. place ourselves in the path of the low ing rays of . ' Mary's Immaculate Heart, under the popular ti- . tle of STELLA MARIS. As we went to Jesus X , through Mary during our voyage of High School , l l life, so we want to launch OUT OF THE HAR- 1 ix' Boa 1N'ro DEEP CHANNELS, guided by A I p Jg-xg' the loving raYS of the STBQF THE SEA. V X A Although we know that the mere dedi- X p cation of this book to them does not compensate for all their time and work spent in keeping us in l r Q the right channels, yet we hope it will, at least in a Suk: . vulgnta X p small way, show our appreciation and gratitude. E Our teachers also deserve the dedication for vi another reason--this year is the golden jubilee of X v A r their community. For fifty years these Franciscan l Sisters of St. Joseph have labored zealously, guid- X SQ ing and directing Young seafarers. X Y JN X X3 XXX . The Sodality, Mary's family of children, is aim- ing to increase a wholehearted love for Mary and her Divine Son. Through untiring labor in the Sodality, the members endeavor to show their interest and zeal in Mary's work. Pictured on these pages are a few ot the highlights sponsored by the Sodality during this school year. In the first picture we see the Sodalists at the annual banquet with Retcrend C. Zielinski, the guest speaker, Isabelle Stelmahoske, toastmistress, and the modality oft'- icers at the head table. A Sodalist knows and loves Marv, imitating Her, and finding in Her that Guiding Star which leads her through life's voyage. Her special devotion to Mary is climaxed each year by the eagerly-awaited event of the coronation. Picture two shows an aerial view of the procession for the May crowning: and directly below is a closeup of the actual cer- emony, performed by Norma Jauch, Prefect of l950, attended by her court, shown in the lower left hand picture. What happy girls we see in picture seven. Those smilingfaces could belong to no one else than newly installed members of the Sodality pictured here with Rev. R. Rucki, guestspeaker for that memorable day, and S. M.Cantuaria, Sodality Moderator. Below, in picture eight, a group of freshmen devoutly venerate the statue of the Pilgrim Virgin, which made a visit to the school. Picture nine shows Judith Lund, chairman of the Apostolic Committee, Dorothy and Romona Drefcinski, Dorothy Zinda, and Terry Huber carrying out one of the duties of the Sodality by packing clothes for the Missions.
