ass gfzstofy Our class of 58 began 1n 1945 when eleven chlldren entered klndergarten They were Delores Stretz Sharon Mohng Carol Holmes Donna Archer Iudlth Iohnson Ellen Anderson Jane Gllmere B111 Pfaff Marvln Murry Rex Meneely and Kelth Iacobs Durlng thls year we learned to color to cut out and to p e 1nto scrap books Newcomers dur1ng the year were Gary Peters and Tausca Iv1cC11ntock The followlng year St Columban flrst graders were B11 y Pfaff Larry Kmsella Larry Strub Marvln Murry Ke1th Iacobs Carol Holmes Dolores Stretz Luetta Eber11ng Carolyn Conway Sharon Mollng and Delores Gladbach Larry Strub had the mlsfortune to break h1s leg and he had to come to school on crutches for a wh1le We learned about the months the seasons and how to tell t1me We made our f1rst Holy Communlon that year Iewell Bennette and Karen Pfaff were newcomers to the second grade Mak1ng h1gh grades 1n spelllng that year were Bllly Pfaff Carolyn Conway and Delores Gladbach Roy Wh1te and B1lly Mannlng Jo1ned us that year Our eventful thlrd year 1ncluded a spell1ng champ1onsh1p for Roy Wh1te the arr1va1 of Hllda Greenawalt from Nlexlco Carolyn Conway and Delores Gladbach 1n the Chrlstmas Processlon as angels and the Sacrament ofruonflrmatlon from the Most Reverend Charles H LeBlonde Arthur Tauchen Jolned us ln the flfth grade commg from WISCOHSIH and Ier1 Lynn Baker Jolned us 1D the SlXLh grade In the seventh grade B111 Pfaff was elected captaln of the Safety Patrol Freddy and Teddy Pepple Jolned us comlng from Payettevllle Arkansas In the elghth grade we were Jomed by Iane Anderson from Ludlow Some of our classmates were star performers on the Black Panthers football team The Freshman year found us 1n the Academy and class off1cers were B111 Pfaff Pres1dent Carolyn Conway V1ce Pres1dent Iane Anderson Secretary and Roy Wh1te Treasurer Roy won second honors ln the spe1l1ng bee sponsored by the Kmghts of Columbus Durmg our Sophomore year we welcomed the Rev Lawrence Spelchmger as our youth dlrector Under hxs guldance and d1rect1on the CYO was organlzed and many good thlngs came to us because of h1S efforts Class offlcers were Roy Whlte Pres1dent Carolyn Conway and Iane Anderson Co V1ce Presldents and B111 Pfaff Secretary Treasurer In our Iunlor year we welcomed the Rev M1chael I O Rourke as our new pastor B111 Pfaff was elected to represent the Iunlor class at Boys State sponsored by the Knlghts of Columbus and Carolyn Conway represented the class at Glrls State sponsored by St Ann s Altar Soclety Art Tauchen reJo1ned us for a year Carolyn served as Pres1dent Art as V1ce Pres1dent Roy a,s Secretary and B111 as Treasurer In our Semor year we welcomed the Rev Alexander B S1ncla1r as asslstant pastor and rel1g1on teacher We Jolned 1n the reJo1c1ng at our beloved pastor s elevat1on to the rank of R1ght Reverend Monslgnor Class offlcers were Carolyn Conway Pres1dent B111 Pfaff V1ce Pres1dent and Roy Whlte Treasurer Our tr1p mcluded the Iumors and we were honored to have the Rev Lawrence Spelchmger to accompany us Our greatest honor was fn hav1ng Hls Excellency the Most Rev Iohn P Cody preslde at our gradautlon on Iune 8th .
