Every member of the class of 1987 lucky enough to have spent a year in one of Mr. Lovett’s classes has experienced the caring warmth he shares with all of his students. Even those whom Mr. Lovett has not taught may have gotten to know him as moderator of Reach Out, as a proctor in Brantview, or as one of the coaches of the football team. We, the Senior class, would like to thank Mr. Lovett for the knowledge and skills he has given to us and for the concern he has shown for us. He is not only a supurb English teacher, but also a good friend. Thank you, Mr. Lovett, for filling out so many of our college recommendations and for criticizing our writing so harshly—we can all write ten times better now than before we experienced the virtual impossibility of receiving an A in your class. We hope your style of teaching and caring becomes a tradition held at the Academy for many years to come. The Class Of 1987 Proudly Dedicates The Lamp To Mr. Thomas Lovett 12

Not Just A Teacher “You must pass your tizzies before I send the warnings out!” Those who have had the luck of having Mr. Vinton for Physics, may never want to remember his awful tizzies, but they nevertheless cannot help to remember Mr. Vinton’s sense of caring and concern, and maybe even his sense of humor. Mr. Vinton is much more to the Academy and its students than any ordinary Physics teacher. When Mr. Vinton first came to the Academy, he immediately set himself apart from many other teachers because of his interest in the students and his determination to educate them in the wonderfully confusing world of Physics. After starting the science club, which did not last very long, Mr. Vinton moved on to become the yearbook advisor. He spent most of his after-school time taking pictures for the LAMP and reminding the staff of approaching deadlines. Mr. Vinton left the LAMP in 1986 and moved on to directing the Drama Program, but, by teaching and still advising the 1987 editor, Mr. Vinton still contributed to the yearbook. Gnder Mr. Vinton’s guidance, the drama program produced Murder By Natural Causes for its fall selection. Just as he became an integral and essential part of the LAMP, Mr. Vinton has become the guiding light of the thespian activities at this school. Some students can not forgive Mr. Vinton for coming from L.I., but without him, the Academy could not be as great as it is. Mr. Vinton is as dedicated and caring about his students as any other teacher, if not more so, and teachers like him make the tradition of St. Johnsbury Academy as rich as it is. Thank you Mr. Vinton for your dedication, concern, and for the long hours that you put in to teach us physics, to help create our yearbooks, and to make our drama program the best ever. Headmaster Bernier Mayo gives a lecture to the sophomores on Hamlet. Mr. Vinton demonstrates angular momentum to his physics lab class. Mr. Vinton showing a concerned look for some student who did not pass all of his tizzies, (topic related quizzes).
