Special Events 35 Mfr Cl It was a crisp, cold day on October 12, as we commem- orated the birthday of Chris- topher Columbus by march- ing in a parade given in his honor. As bright as the day, the high school girls present a uniform picture marching down Fifth Avenue. The Academy Choir is 21 voluntary organization under Mother Veroniea's direction. Their talents beautify various religious ceremonies held in parishes on Staten Island. Here, they are practicing for the Graduation ceremony. go

A pretty girl is like a melody. These lovely misses anxiously await the de- cision of the judges as to the fairest of them all.', In reality these well- known characters are being portrayed by Theodora Magli, Darralynn Check, Patricia Holland, Carole Mancino, Barbara Crowley, Paula Gennaro and Linda Zimbardi who are merely hum- ble Freshmen complying to the whims of the stately sophomores on Initiation Day. Joan Alvasio, Pamela Anderson, Suzanne Shaugh- nessy, joan McLoughlin, Roberta johnson and Diane Wheeler seem to be making lans to send Linda Procacci into orbit as Miss Roglcetship 1959, while a curious little Cherub, Geraldine McTiernan, gazes dubiously at her fellow-victim. NVhat is causing all that noise? It's only the Freshies, who present quite ' a sight as their mixed emotions regis- ter sadness and gladness. They are at last full-fledged . . . Freshmen!
