SEASON SUMMARY The Women's Bowling League was a smashing success this year with 37 participants. Eight teams comprised the league: two teams from Alpha Theta Llpsilon. two from Delta Epsilon Beta. two from the Knockouts, one from Delta Kappa Delta and one team named the Pinheads . The girls bowled at Country Lanes on Sunday after- noons from October to December. The top four teams made the playoffs on the basis of total points. The DEBs' players, Linda Bawiec. Adrienne Buono, Maryellen Eglin- ton. Michele Fiorenza and Sue Lotz, finished ahead of the pack with a record of 19 wins and 5 losses for a total of 46 points. Tough competition was provided all season by ATU Uoanne DiGiovanni, Karen Franzen, Lauri Grasso. Carolyn Harris and Pat O'MaggioJ who finished in second place with 41 points Q18 wins. 6 lossesy. The playoffs. however. were a different story. For the second year in a row, the team that finished in fourth place during the regular season won the playoffs and Championship. In 1978, it was DKD who turned the trick by upsetting the Knockouts in the final round of the playoffs. This year. a team representing ATU QJoan Debany. Diane Georger. Karen Messo. Diana Russo and Debbie Vendittoj took the Championship by defeating the Knockouts QBeth Buchanan, Terry Borzumato. Doreen Duell and Grace Scottoj. Individually. the High Average, High Game, and High Series tro- phies were all won by the same person - Lauri Grasso of ATU. Lauri averaged 145.7, had a high game of 194. and a high series of 506. On the whole. the women played competitively while enjoying themselves. That's what made 1979 a great season.
