Funded by the Intramural Program, the members of the club work-out in the Lavelle Hall basement. Equipped with various weights and bar-bells, the club is open to all students. The Tae Kwon Do Club of St. Iohn's University was founded in 1973 and has expanded its membership to sixteen full-time members. The club receives its instruction from Mr. Michael Dealy, third degree Black Belt. Under the presidency of Gene Walsh, the club has engaged in a number of intercollegiate competitions and has given several exhibitions of the mar- tial arts during the year. They compete with such schools as Princeton University, New York University, Brown University and Fordham Univer- sity, The United States Military Academy and Cornell has enabled St. Iohn's University to earn their rank within the Tae Kwon Do discipline. There are presently five yellow belts, two green belts, a purple belt and a brown belt in the club aside from the beginning white belts. One Hundred and Sixty-One
