SOCIETY EUR THE ADVANCEME T CDE MA AGEMENT The Society for the Ad- vancement of Management is a recognized national professional or anization of managers in ji areas of industry, commerce, gov- ernment and education. There are over 200 Univer- sity Chapters in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and lra which are dedicated to flme develop- ment of tomorrow's man- agers. The S.A.M. chapter on our campus has tried to bring the practical world of day-to-day business and the theoretical training of the classroom rogether by sponsoring various activi- ties. These activities in- cluded: a presentation and film on decision-making b Dr. John Alexion, Dean of, C.B.A., a speaker and film from Burroughs Well- come Pharmaceutical Co., a lecture on resume prepara- tion by Dr. Steven Cwood- man, a trip to the American Express Company in Man- hattan, and a tri to the C1.M. plant in Lincijen, New Jersey. The S.A.M. also gave the student body the opportunity to participate in a Mock Interview ses- sion as well as a Career Fair.

444444444-V'4'Y-44414444 The Bartlett Rangers is a military society dedicated to the improvement of physical, tactical and leadership skills. The society was organized at CUNY and later revived at St. Iohn's when the University moved to Staten Is- land. The organization is named in honor of General Charles G. Bartlett, a distin- guished Army officer of the late 1800's, who resided on Staten Island. The society sponsors two training exercises per semester which encourages the practice of their motto, Proficiency in the Field. Membership in the Bartlett Rangers is open to all students at St. john's.
