Extra ' Extra .V 1 a freprinted by popular flemanrlitaken from the review, vol. 8, no. 22 at 3:30 on the afternoon of tuesday, deeember Zlst. the annual alumni-varsity basketball game began. the result was the usual with the old men winning. the game proved that a himeh of experieneed, out-of-shape eollege dissipaters ean beat a group of well-eondi- tioned, elear-eut high sehool boys any day. high scorer for the game was ehap burks of the alumni with a total of thirteen points. another star of the game was shaved legs gordon, eomplete with gray soeks and blue tennis shoes. who managed to find enough time to tear himself away from texas fraternities and mary neely long enough to play in the game. the game managed to do some good: it en- abled hoys who never played in a high sehool game to see some aetion. a fine example of this was bill miner bagby, who. although he was playing with a had shoulder tinjured in the penn state gamel, made up for it by taping his soeks up. another highlight of the game was the appearanee of baldy diekson who is always a favorite drawing eard with the middle-aged women. brueie-boy harring- ton managed to find time from university of houston night school for the game. several alumni who eouldn't suit up for the game for one reason or another tgetting married, etc.J, dropped by between bars to eheer their fellow grads. the real villain of the day was mr. rieh- ards who wouldn't let an ambitious alum bring a ease of beer for the players talumni, that ist, into the gym. all told, a good time was had by all. in parting, i would like to give some adviee to basketballers who are tired ot' getting beaten by the alumni every year: grad- uate as soon as possible. if you ean't beat 'em, join 'em. --P iffy f ' if I f 1 1 s Q Xu Q 'r 1 A R VFX L4 W A L? .ig - S- fri!
