For lnany years St. John's competed in the Prep School Division of interscholastic athletics and sent forth teams that won high praise and all sorts of honors in practically all sports. Its foothall teams. playing a schedule that consisted for the most part of eastern college elevens. swept through several undefeated seasons. lts track tealns. under the tute- lage of the late and great ,lim Daley. won hoth state and national recognition: the Bowdoin lnterscholastics. the East- ern Seahoard Relays. the National Prep School Relays. etc. Even in more recent years when the Prep has heen competing on a strictly high school level the track and golf teams have won high honors. and the teams in the other interscholastic sports consistently offer stiff opposition to all opponents. The school authorities feel that athletic competition is of vast importance in the educational process and give the necessary stress to all varieties of athletic endeavor. Prep athletic facil- ities are of the finest. and the ltltl-foot outdoor swimming pool that now graces the campus kltltls the hnishing touch to the Prep athletic plant. St. John's llkls displayed and will continue to display a wholesome interest in the physical development of her students.
