Dobbins, M.A. Head of Department Latin Department Under the direction of Mr. Timothy Dobbins, the Latin Department strives to develop the accuracy of a studentis thought process by training him to learn a precise and exacting language. The cultural background acquired by a study of Roman History also is a motivating factor for presenting this language as part of the student curriculum. Not to be overlooked by any means is the fact that many Prepsters choose to continue their studies for the priesthood, and Latin is most essential for this vocation. These purposes are accomplished by offering students a preparatory course in grammar, followed by readings of Caesar's Gallic Wars and Cicero's classical orations. Robert F. Ferrara, B.A. Michael A. Mr. George McNamara and his staff instruct the students in the fundamentals of logical thinking in conjunction with a concise knowledge of the social sciences.
