Rev. John Liney, C.M. Rev. William I. Thomas, C.M. if Rev. joseph P. McCaffrey, C.M. Rev. Thomas P. McGourty, C.M. Head of Department In order to gain Heaven we must know, love, and serve God. Our love and service of Cod depends on our knowledge of our Religion. Because of this fact, Religion is, without a doubt, the most important subject taught in the Prep. This department, directed by Thomas P. McCourty, C.M., introduced a different series of text books this year, namely, The Christian Life Seriesf for the purpose of bringing more clarity and better continuity of this important subject. As one participates in the Religion class each day, he may overlook the fact that every lesson fits into a definite plan for each year, and also that daily classes serve as a constant reminder of his duties toward Cod. Book one of the series, titled, Going to Godf, prepares a student for an intelligent and active participation in the liturgical life of the Church year. The Sophomore book, Cod and His Peoplef, informs the students of Cod's relationship with men by means of a study of Sacred Scripture. The book for the third year is titled, Growth in IIis Lifef, It treats spe- cifically of man's duties to Cod. The Senior book, The Catholic in Today's lVorld,U prepares the student to defend his religion by reason, and the latter part presents a course in matrimony so that the Catholic will understand his obligations as a parent, if he chooses this vocation in life. Father McCaffrey and students discuss the Mass vestments. 17
