During the l95O campaign, the Indians swept to both singles and do ubles victories in the Fordham Tournament. Pisciotta captured the singles title. He then teamed with Westman to capture the doubles crown. For this splendid work, Pisciotta gained the number one Boy's Singles Title in this section, while Westman was crowned Number Three Singles Player in the East. Together both these Prepsters were rated as the number one do of the country. Entering the current season the Redmen will field two teams, a varsity and a newly organized freshman club. Track Plagued by the lack of experienced men in long dis- tance runs and field events, the Indian Harriers started their third season under the direction of Mr. Christopher Duane. Seven returning lettermen, Rudy Scrimenti, Austen Canade, Ray McAssey, Tom Spina, Richard Stan- ley, John Becker and Pat McCarthy formed the nucleus of the l95O-5l edition of the Indian boardmen iScri- menti and Canade stood out as top veteran performers, having both run on the l95O City Championship 880 novice relay team, while Becker was the Redmen's chief sprint threat.l T'iis year's outdoor season was a complete blank due to the P.S.A.L. coaches' strike, but the Indians had their hands full in the indoor meets which followed. The Jan- uary graduation of Scrimenti and Spina, hampered the Tribe considerably in their quest for new honors. Afounu ---- The Redmen's l95O indoor season began at the Fordham Prep Relay Carnival. The Warriors garnered first place honors in the time trials for the Junior relay. ln the Catholic novice championship, the Redmen's Joe Fiorio earned third place in the shot-put department, while Dave Daly took second position in the 440 and Pat Callahan captured third in the 220. John Becker and Austen Canade stood out for the Warriors in the Cardinal Hayes meet on February 2l, l95l, as they placed third and fourth respectively in the 300. In the big indoor meet of the season Indoor Champion- ship, held at Madison Square Garden on March 3, the inexperience of the Redmen once again took its toll, as the Red and White could receive only one point, as John Becker captured fifth place in the junior 50 yard dash. This year's squad is a young one and should continue to improve with each event. Together with the fine showing of the freshmen runners, the Harriers future seems to be very bright. Varsity Trackmen.
