Neal the Eel. The City's reservoirs being full and the ban on sc swimming lifted, the Redmen Natators waded their through one of the heaviest campaigns in the histor the sport at the Prep. After all the splashing was the squad, coached by Father Graham, C.M., eme with a commendable .500 record of 6 wins and 6 lo: This mark was compiled in C.l-l.S.A.A. competition by the participation in dual meets with the cream of crop squads in Metropolitan swim circles. Looking over the campaign we see listed among Vincentian's triumphs strong wins over Regis, Pi Memorial, Brooklyn Prep and Rice 2. The Mermen pulled one of the major upsets of the season by gai second place in the 26th annual Private Schools Ath Association Swimming Championships. ln the C.l-l.S., Novice City Championships the Indians again fini: in the runner-up spot. Personnel of the team numbered seventeen. In freeestyle division Neal Durdaller, Joe Schreiner, Be Rottkamp, Paul Dite and Jerry Emmerich took can the majority of the work. Schreiner, Durdaller, Emma and Dite handled the fifty and one hundred yard ch while Rootkamp tacked down the 220 position. Ma up the breaststroke department was the steady dui John Major and Walter Scott while Jerry Woods and Bruce led the backstroke department. Dite, Major, and Woods teamed up to swim the yard Medley Relay. Comprising the 220 yard free-: relay quartet were Durdaller, Schreiner, Rottkamp Emmerich. Among the newcomers who aided in ce spots were Joe Schroeder, Ronnie Levinson, and l mond Lyons. 146
