FOREWORD This Year Book records the outward and visible achieve¬ ments of St. John ' s in the 1950-51 school year. We must not, however, lose sight of the fact that the central purpose of the school is to make of each pupil the best human being that he is capable of becoming. Since better human beings inevitably make better com¬ munities, it follows that the success, or failure, of a school can rightly be measured only in terms of its effect on the community served by the school. In other words, not until twenty years from now will it be possible to appraise the work that is being done in the school this year. Yet, as one looks to-day at the community in which we live, and at the part played in its life by St. John ' s graduates, there arises the firm conviction that over the years the school has done a good job. The current graduating class has done its part in main¬ taining the proud traditions of the school; it will, in its turn, do its part in making our community a better place to live in.
