Saphvmore 611155 flisiory Each September, fresh from the ranks of the peagreen Freshmen the wise old Sophs determine to leave their indelible mark on St. Iohn's. As we relive the year's experiences, we fondly recall struggling through THE HISTORY OF CIVILIZATION, espe- cially that extra sixth period each week and then diligently trying to decipher Veni, vidi, vici for Sister Mary Chabanel As to our math course, all the Sophomores agreed, it was fun drawing those squares, triangles and circles in geometry class. On the extracurricular side, we proudly note that we attended St. John's first prom, decorated for the Pow-Wow dance and provided the school with vivacious cheerleaders and active basketball players. JOE MILLS, President As we eagerly anticipate graduating to the rank of SHARON BUTTS, Vice President Juniors, we wistfully say good-bye to Sister Mary Vincent and thank her for helping us imprint our mark as Sophomores at St, John's. There, we were the incoming Freshmen--very unsure and just a little bit scared. The first obstacle we had to hurdle was the new subject Latin! Science and algebra also presented a challenge. However, we proved that we had mastered them at the Awards Assemblies. Throughout the year we demonstrated our newly acquired school spirit. The Freshmen were always in evidence at the school outings and at all social gatherings. Moving -up day finally arrived and we, the Freshmen, had completed our first year. No longer were we the pea-green Fresh, for now were ready to leave the ever watchful eye of PAUL NIGRA, President Sister Mary Chabanel and become wise old Sophs. THERESA KORBELAK, Vice President
