The checked-board boys repeated in establishing themselves as formidable opponents this year, lead by the trio of experienced seniorsg Jerome Glinka, Tom McMahon, and Dave Pierce. SCIENCE CLUB Due to the possibility that several scholars' love for biology, chemistry, or physics may not be satisfied in the classroom, the Science Club is available to augment their knowl- edge. Various members have dis- played their talent in Science Fairs and school exhibitions. RADIO CLUB Receiving Waves from the outside World, the radio club intercepts and releases in- formation and messages. Brother Sebian, the moder- ator, instructs his followers on how to communicate with the other hams. Bowling There exists several members of the student body who would rather not clash on a football field but prefer striking in an alley. For them the leisure of bowling satisfies their personal demand for entertainment. Enthusiastically coached by Father Maline the boys were shown the correct technique and fared well in the competition offered in the American and National Bowling Leagues. Latin League The Latin League was organized this year for those students who were studying this classical language. Di- rected by Mr. Gillespie they delved into the Works and lives of such greats as Ceasar and Cicero and thus received a greater appreciation of the father of modern languages. OLUNTEERS The Saint Johnis Volunteers again rendered their services to Toledo and nearby communities. Through their efforts of tutoring and guiding the less educated and less fortunate they brought honor to themselves and to their school. f 'i,fi,fiff7 1r ii!-E 'iii Zh f Q L Q , POSTER CLUB Mr. Brady painted up a storm in the poster club this year. Aided this year by a new dimmer system the crew was able to cope with many difficult scenes requiring special lighting effects. The crew consisted of men from all classes and assures Campion Hall of many superb stages in the future. FGRENSICS Although getting off to a slow start early in the season, both the Debators and the Individual Events men had come close to victory several times, barely edged out in the semi-finals. Our debators swept to a Class HC victory at the Rogeras invitational and Mike Kulwieki and Ed Gray both made the semi-finals at the District Tournament held at Bowling Green State University. Even though they fared just about average, the experience they gained will make them formidable con- tenders next year. l HOMECOMIN For the first time in the history of St. John's, the student body Wit- nessed the Homecoming debut. These tough glass fibers from Owens- Corning add safety and performance to tires on most 1970 Detroit cars. They form the fabric that protects Apollo space suits from temperature and fire. And Fiberglas' reinforcements put strength and durability into a majority of pleasure-boat hulls built today. In fact, it's estimated there are more than 33,000 ways Fiberglas materials can profitably replace metals, wood or cloth. They're already in many of these uses right now, moving fast into others.
