Frosh, unior Varsit P1leU Victories This year's junior Varsity basketball team adapted very well to new coach Mr. james Corrigan and posted a highly successful season. Thanks to four consecutive one-sided victories at the end of the campaign, the j.V.'s finished with nine wins and only six defeats. Following an early loss to Central, the 1968-69 freshman roundballers came alive and compiled an impressive nine-game winning streak. Highlighted by nine City League triumphs, Coach Dennis Hodak's frosh cagers closed their season with an excellent record of 11-4. The members of both the junior Varsity and Freshman teams now have the challenge to develop the potential they showed this year. Future success will depend on them. againxt Scott. vi. l .., - l : rg, 1 V ,ff E -h .. In dual-meet action the wrestlers posted a disappointing 4-4 record. Their setbacks included defeats by narrow margins, and they wrestled much better than the record indicates. The Titans, however, fared much better in tournament action. At both the Catholic Invitational Tournament CCITD and the City League Tournament, the grapplers finished in the first division. Later the team demon- strated great balance with a third-place finish in the sectional tournament at which six St. .Iohnls wrestlers advanced to the district, meet. In their final appearance of the season, the wrestlers captured twelfth place among the sixty-five teams in the northwest Ohio dis- trict. The team's outstanding performers were CIT champ Ed Floyd Q20-4D, Ray Zammit C12-4-lb, and -lim Bracken C16-8-1 Q. With seven varsity wrestlers return- ing, Mr. Beier is assured a fine season once again next year.
