Titans filiavfe Tn Toiairriaiiiicntt Cagery Slam lwatmftee For coach John Braucher's varsity basketball team, 1968-69 was a long and difficult season. Beset by a never-ending string of injuries, sickness, and tough breaks, the cagers did not win a game during the regu- lar campaign. The Titans were seldom beaten badly, however, and with a little luck they easily could have won ten games. Through all this adversity the team kept plugging away, and the student body kept supporting them. Eventually this paid off. In their opening tournament contest the winless Titans met Maumee, which had a 14-3 record and was top-seeded in the sectional. The resulting 48-44 upset victory by St. John's touched off a wild, on-court celebration at the final buzzer. It mat- tered little that the season abruptly ended the following night with a last-second loss to Central, for the Mau- mee triumph had gone a long way toward erasing the frustration of a very trying year.
