VARSITY BASKETBALL lt has often been said that experience is the best teacher. If that is the case, the 1967-68 St. John's Varsity Basketball team must have learned a great lesson this season. Competing in the tough City League, the Titans compiled a mark of 1-10. The varsity's overall record was 4-11. These records do not appear very impressive, but it must he remembered that coach John Braucher had only sophomores and juniors with which to build the varsity team. The high point of the season came when St. Jnhn's defeated Woodward, 59-51. Other Titan triumphs were a 72-36 trnuncing of Maumee Valley Country Day School, a 59-29 rout of Evergreen, and a one-sided 72-44 win over Spencer Sharples. Even in their losses, the varsity was usually right in the contest until the very end, showing that they were capable of holding their own against almost every opponent. If the var- sity Titans make good use of the valuable experience they gained this year, St. John's will be a top City League basketball contender next season. i . 43 ui Kneeling: Dan Corbo, Jim Fosnaugh, Jim Davis, Gary Florian, Mike Helvey, Kevin Gill.
