After they had trimmed the squad down to a workable size, coaches Donald Yingling and John Gallgher, S.J. began the work of drilling their charges in the fundamentals of football. The freshmen learned well, for they opened their season with a 26-0 win over Stritch. But the next week, two passes bombed the Titan fledge- lings as their only loss ofthe season was inflicted by arch-rival St. Fran- cis, 12-0. Rebounding after this heartbreaking defeat, the promising Titans whalloped McTigue 22-6, rolled over Waite 30-6, and slipped past Macomber 8-6. After a frustrating 6-6 tie with Libbey, the Titans closed their season by crushing Start 20-0. The freshmen are now anxiously awaiting next year when they will compose the St. John's junior varsity team.
