Chase DAMN YANKEES, is a story of a plump and balding middle-aged real estate salesman in Washington D.C. , who is an avid fan of his home-town ball team. In a rash moment, he murmurs that he ' d sell his soul to see the Washington Senators win the pennant from the damn Yankees . At this moment the Devil appears, in disguise of a personable gentleman called Mr. Applegate, who offers to make a pact with him: in return for his soul, he will transform him into a young and unbeatable ballplayer. The real estate agent agrees but insists on an escape Clause whereby at a certain date he will be restored to his former self to rejoin his wife and live out his years normally. The Devil agrees . The young player, now known as Joe Hardy, joins the Senators; and the team moves right up to second place in the American League but Applegate has other plans; he is secretly on the side of the Yankees and is plotting to wet the hopes of the Senators and then to wisk the victory away from them in the final hour . When young Hardy learns of this , he asks to exercise his option and to be returned to his former status at the side of his faithful wife . But Applegate employs the services of Lola, a ravishing beautiful witch, to tempt him into staying on the side of the Devil . However , Hardy remains true to the wife he left behind him . Lola breaks a precedent by falling in love with her victim and aids him in defeating the Devil. The Washington ball club emerges victorious , and the real estate agent is restored to his wife . 1) Reporter Gloria sets out to make Joe Hardy famous . 2) Lola and Mr . As we look back over the year and see the hard work, yet fun times we had while putting this book together, we find it was all worth it. We have many people to thank for the help they gave us in making this book possible. First we would like to thank our student photographers; Kathy Lause, Sharon Baldauf, and Elaine Wehri, and the three studios especially Dave Lundgren of Kaufman Studio. A special thanks goes to Charles Ashby and Jim Obermeyer for their time and pictures they gave us . Also we would like to thank Sid Rodeheffer and the American Publishing Company for the great job, well done. We would also like to thank Mr. Adams, and the office staff; Mrs. Clark, Mrs. Miller, and Miss Noonan. A special thank you goes to our new advisor Sister Donald Joseph for all her help and support. Thank you staff for the hard work you put into the 1977 Crest. Although the days, the weeks, the months have passed, Presently it ' s over. But never forgotten.
