Coach Ricco ' s outlook for I960 is Potential to be the best football St. John has had. Coach John Ye rick, auxiliary coach at St. John for the past four years, attended Bluffton College, Bluffton, Ohio, where he majored in Physical Education. Seven Blue Jays converge to de- feather a T-Bird. Cheer Queens for the 1959 Football Season included the following peppy sextet: clockwise from the top: Marie Buettner, Frances Wiecher, Joyce Kill, Mary Jane Friemoth, Carol Brickner, Margaret Pohlman. Many years from now these girls will have happy memories of the times they led the St. John cheering section in their blue and gold outfits, waving their bright- ly colored pom-pon s in rhythm with the cheers. Never to be forgotten will be the pep rallies before each game, the bonfire rally before the L.C.C. game, their first appearance leading the S. J. H. crowd, standing in the rain and mud--loyal to the end--at the Fremont St. Joe game, and the out-of-town games. We ' re sure that Marie won ' t soon forget the L.C.C. game; Mary Jane, the practice sessions; Peggy and Frannie, the sock-hops after the game. Carol won ' t forget the night she nearly broke her neck trying to turn a cart-wheel; Joyce will always remember the time she tried to do a cheer while she was standing in the mud. The happiest memory, however, for all of them was the thrill of the Blue Jays ' first touchdown. Rover, Red Rover, let theT-Birds come over. 1 C O c 0) ° 2 • OD C S d) o SI D -J o IH C o 0) _.
