Our academic pursuits are an integral part of our life here at SJH. Academic progress is, after all, the reason that public schools were begun in the first place. We take a serious ap- proach to academics with each class lasting a minimum of 50 minutes a day and as few in- terruptions as possible. We also try to honor those students who excell academically. The Na- tional Honor Society is the pres- tigious organization which is de- voted to the development of character, leadership, scholar- ship, and service. The Valedic- torian and the Salutatorian of each graduating class have im- portant roles in the graduation ceremonies each spring. Each year in the spring a special ban- quet is held to recognize those students who have achieved ac- ademic honors throughout the school year. All in all, fac- ulty and students together work to make the St. John’s diploma a lot more valuable than a slip of paper. A diploma from St. John’s means academic achievement.
