Psychologist believe that the acute emotional involvement kids have with soap characters runs deep. The soaps allow teen to vicariously encounter situations and emotions that they cannot yet experience themselves: In other words, soaps help them test out their own feeling and future roles.” Seventeen, March 1983 “In my opinion, soap operas are wonderful. I love to watch them. If I wasn’t at school I’d probably be home watching soap operas. My favorite soap is General Hospital. It’s great! It gives you a chance to get out of your‘Hum-Drum’ life. I gave up half of my summer activities just so 1 wouldn’t miss an episode.” Tracy Tillman “There are some people that believe in these unrealistic shows. People who watch are taking this in a false sense.” Dwayne Graham “My favorite soap opera is, “As the World Turns.” Since I am a male, I feel kind of funny talking about it.
