They were also given a chance to participate in mock” elections of all offices in the state and city governments. ScAeuxt This summer Karen Chapman was among 275 rising seniors or jun- iors that gathered at The College of Charleston to participate in the 1980 Governor’s School. Being chosen as a Wofford Scholar gives selected students a chance to visit the campus for tests, interviews, and possible scholarships. Students selected this year are Lisa Lane, Monica Warsaw, Karen Chapman, and Rick Rushing. Not pictured Terry McLamb. Tfcewuf St. John's High School is fortunate to have among its seniors Merry Morgan. Merry has participated admirably in many events state and locally. Some of her many achievements are: South Carolina Junior Classical League President. South Carolina Association of Student Councils 6th district Chair- man. William Randolph Hearst Award. State winner in Latin III. American Legion Auxiliary Palmetto Girls' State. Danforth, I Dare you leadership award. The Converse Honors Program in Spartan- burg gives deserving female students the opportunity to compete for a scholarship. Michele Jones is the girl selected for this year’s competition. The eligibility requirements for the program included a recommendation by each girl’s guidance counselor. Pictured are Terrie Dycus, Michele Jones, and Kay Smith. 20

'206 'e ‘2CJ6 ACC State Members of the St. John's Cho- rus were invited to audition in Columbia. Each person audition- ing, sings in a quartet. Also each person has its own judge and is rated on a scale from 44 to 47 as All State Chorus and from 48-50 as Honors Chorus. All 350 All State Chorus participants will per- form in March at Winthrop in Rockhill. Mrs. Patricia Foy is the advisor. Pictured are: Matthew Davis, Camille Jones, Rodney Johnson. The chief marshal is that student who has obtained the highest grade point ratio than any other student. Valedictorian and other salutato- rian for the 1980-81 year are Karen Chapman and Andrea Scott, respectfully.
