Our won and lost record could have been better, but the effort and desire the team exhibited all year couldn’t have been any greater. 27

To sum up our 1973 football season in a few words is very difficult. We had eight returning senior lettermen from our “72” squad. These seniors along with our two fine Co-captains, Allen Lambert and Terry Gettyshad to provide leadership and desire for twenty-five underclassman. Much credit is due to these seniors for the success of our season. We had some close and exciting games during the year. Our 7-0 win over Cheraw was nip and tuck until the last few minutes. A tremendous goal line stand by a young defensive team in the last few minutes preserved a 7-6 win over Marion. Then there were the two big conference wins over Wilson 14-7 and Lake City 6-0, that were not decided until the last 30 seconds. We had some tough losses during the 73 season such as the 6-6 tie with Southside, after a 50 yard electrifying run by Thomas Robinson in the last few 26
