Over these past twelve years, we have certainly put these letters to good use. On the first day of school, hundreds of frightened kids were crying for mama. We found ourselves either in the halls of Spring, Pate, St. David’s Academy, Brockington, Cain, Rosenwald, or St. John’s Elementary. From tears of 1960 to thinking that we knew everything, in 1966 we supposedly graduated from elementary school. We thought this was a big step, since, the next step was Junior High School. This was the beginning of broken arms, legs, and you name it we had it. Certain seventh and eighth graders found themselves competing against each other in sports such as basketball, football, and baseball. At the end of eighth grade, it was time for us to fill out subject choice sheets. Thinking of being big freshmen made us game for anything. Some chose very difficult subjects while others chose easier ones. The first day of high school was terrible. It seemed as if it would never end; but this was just the beginning of some long, awful days or some days that went by too quickly. As freshmen, many boys were picked for the J.V. Basketball team while others were picked for tennis, golf, and baseball. In 1970, we were promoted to 10th grade. With our promotion, many changes took place. One of these changes was the joining together of this senior class. During this year, we met new friends and teachers, but we also lost some of our friends and teachers. In September of 1971 our senior class took its last step in St. John’s High School. We were the graduating class of 1972. In this year, we have had disappointments and thrills. Our class has carried off many athletic awards. The girls varsity basketball team was State Champions; and the golf, football, and tennis teams placed in their tournaments. Our May Court consisted of our May Queen, Donna Shepard and Maid of Honor, Emily Brown. Also representing the senior class were Jacquie Moody, Brenda Lee, and Debbie Brown. To our senior class officers, President, Donnie Miles; Vice President, Chuck Early; Secretary, Debbie Brown; and Treasurer, Katherine Ward; teachers, Mr. Cain, and all of our fellow classmates, a sincere thanks goes to each of you for helping make our Senior Class what it is today. 252 Pat Warr, Historian This is the Anchor Club??!! We tried to capture its most memorable events and hope what is here will please you. We appreciate all the help given by the faculty and student body at St. John’s. To Louise Hartzog, our business manager, and her staff we express thanks for all the time spent raising money to pay for this annual. We would like especially to thank Mr. Dearhart, our advisor, for his guidance and understanding. )oxAjo aa jl) A ajuiL 256
