THE BLUE DEVIL 1971 St. John’s High School Darlington, S. C. Co-Editors Terry Chick Sarah Dargan Business Manager Terri Davis Advisor Mrs. John T. Langston DEDICATION Mr. David Neilson 2 DEDICATION Four years ago, we entered St. John’s High School as Freshmen, the Class of ’71. We were unsure of ourselves and had so much to learn. As you passed us in the hall, your friendly smile always seemed to start things off right. In the past four years, we have come to know you as our friend and teacher, someone we could always count on for encourage- ment and guidance. Your own stories and comments seemed to make even history interesting. So, it is with great pleasure, admiration, respect, and love, that we, the Senior Class, dedicate the 1971 Blue Devil to you, Mr. David Neilson. e CONTENTS Dedication .............6 Athletics .............18 Honors ................50 Activities ............56 Features...............92 Administration . . .108 Classes...............122 Advertisements . . .174 8 smile on your brother Come on people now smile on your brother. ... We tried our best to capture its greatest moments, those moments which mean so much to us all. Although it was impossible to preserve every memorable scene, we hope that what is here will please all of you. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Terri Davis, our business manager, and her staff, without whose fund-raising projects this annual would not be possible. To Mrs. Langston, our faculty advisor, we say “thanks” for your helpful guidance; to Mr. Cain, who realized what we were up against and did his best to help, and to all of those people who worked behind the scenes in helping to prepare this annual, thank you all. However, our greatest thanks go out to you - the student body of St. John’s without whose pictures this annual would be just a front and a back with nothing in between. 212 Terry Chick Sarah Dargan . « « • ■■ P ’ • - - ’ .... • ■ 1 r.: ur ir sss —::. ..— .•:;■ :u rn m:r.::: - • ■ - -- — Hvr tur-rrvns3. ■ •“ rr .: r?ryr- t, ruin“ ..nrzzzzrr rj.;r - _;;;; . : . ... —-• — -.. w. r l _' , ... .. ...
