We emphasize the importance of worthy home mem- bership and encourage democracy in home and community life. F.H.A. members strive for good home and family life as well as international goodwill. By fostering the development of cre- ative leadership and sponsoring wholesome re- creation, we members become well rounded young women, who will be ready to face the challenges of the ever expanding tomorrows. The destiny of homemakers beckons us toward new horizons; for we are the builders of homes where living will be the expression of everything that is good and fair. MADE WITH FRESH CREAM ALWAYS FRESH PET DAIRY DIVISION Looking back upon the past seven months of laboring toward the completion of the 1967 Blue Devil, a variety of thoughts begin to prey upon our minds. Seven months ago we began with 150 empty, white pages; we often wondered if we would not be better off to leave them that way. Sure- ly, there are things that we would do differently if only we had another chance; but the finality of deadlines eclipses second chances. Reflecting upon the countless hours spent, our only hope is that our efforts were not in vain. It must be understood that it takes more than two minds, two ideas, two pairs of hands to ac- complish the task of putting together a yearbook. The 1967 Blue Devil is the culmination of the ideas, plans, and efforts of a determined group of people motivated by one primary objective - to express in words, pictures, and spirit what St. John's means to us. It was not an easy task which we desired. In the area of photography, it has meant the use of many candid pictures. We have tried to capture the students and faculty members when they least expected it in order that we might achieve the long-desired goal of realism. In our writing we have endeavored to say more than what this or that group was supposed to have done, but what it actually did in 1967 toward the fulfillment of its purposes. In our layout and design we have worked toward continuity and neatness. Some of the hardest workers on the 1967 Blue Devil staff will go unthanked, unnoticed, and unappreciated for their efforts. We would call your attention to the Blue Devil staff members pictured in the Activities Section. These are the people who are to be thanked. The 1967 Blue Devil staff is most appreciative of the help rendered by our advisor, Mrs. John T. Langston. She has spent many hours making corrections in grammar, word usage, and punc- tuation of our copy writing. Mrs. Langston has helped us immeasurably in our efforts to produce a yearbook which will be appreciated for years to come. Much of the progress which we made this year must be credited to Delmar Printing Company. Our thanks go to Mr. Horace Blackston and all those at Delmar who helped us produce the 1967 Blue Devil. To our photographer, Randy Segars, who has worked tirelessly and without complaint, we extend our appreciation and gratitude for bearing with us. He has spent many hours in producing the realistic photography which we have demanded of him. Yes, our desire was to present a yearbook of exciting events, wonderful experiences, and precious memories; a book which uniquely expresses the life of only one high school - St. John's. As we present to you the 1967 Blue Devil, it is our hope that you will read it, criticize it, and reflect upon what it symbolizes. We hope, most of all, that it will be a book which you will cher- ish for years to come. 162 (ME « 'T
